Giving Back Is Easy
December 03, 2017
Christmas 🎄⛄️🎄came early for a little girl and her mom. When we put our efforts, our minds, and our hearts together we, as a community, are unstoppable! 🙌🏼 🙌🏽 🙌🏾
From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU Madeline Loef, for making sure that a little girl got a brand-new bedroom! THANK YOU Dayna Hinderstein for gifting me your beautiful furniture. Everything was received with so much love and gratitude. An empty 2-bedroom apartment was turned into a “home” because of these two moms.
But none of this would have been possible without Miles Norvell, Nadine, and Le’jon. Who, after volunteering 4 hours of their Sunday morning on Skid Row helping me pass out 200 meals, then rode with me to pick up the U-Haul truck and furniture, one hour away in Agoura Hills and then ... we made the two hour trek to San Bernardino. Absolute love & appreciation to Randy Roy who showed up when I called him at 8 o’clock on a Sunday night with his tools to help make the evening complete.
To these angels that gave up their entire Sunday to help someone, simply because I asked ... I love you! These acts that you performed are priceless. #Community #Ittakesavillage #Family#Friendsthatarelikefamily #BrownBagLady
Some of these fantastic people below, I have never met. These are people behind the scenes, people across the country, that made Brown Bag Lady 2015 … SPECTACULAR! From the lady standing in line w/me at the grocery store asking “Ya having a party?!” And when I told her about Brown Bag Lady, she reached into her pocket and handed me money; the guy at the office who cleaned out his child’s book shelf so another child could have something to read; the grandmother in the valley who told me she doesn’t have much to give, but she blessed us with 100 handmade beanies and scarves (there is no dollar amount you can put on a labor of love); the friends that carried in 40 huge black trash bags full of donated clothing (some good some bad) that had to be gone through, piece by piece. A box full of backpacks and blankets sent from my dear friend who now resides in Iowa; the group of co-workers in Illinois, I have never met, who took up a collection and went to the fabric store and handmade beautiful blankets AND pillows to match! THANK YOU to every…single…person who helped make 2015 AMAZING!
